Taking Your Pet's Photo

Here are some helpful hints to take a good picture of your pet.

Prints
If you mail a print, please make sure it is no smaller than 1.5" and no bigger than 5"x7".

Digital Photos
Digital Photos are the best way to provide your pet's picture to us.

However, please keep these things in mind when choosing a picture:

1. The pet should be in focus, not the background or surrounding elements.

The more in focus your pet's face, the better the Pet Driver's License® will be.

2.  Try to get a picture of your pet sitting down. Get down on their level to take the picture.

3.  When you get your driver's license, the camera is straight on, not pointing up/down.

We can do a lot to make a picture look good. But remember, we are not magicians,

so if you send us a really fuzzy picture, the Pet Driver's License® we return will also be fuzzy.

4.  We work with .jpg or .tiff formats. Please don't send us photos taken with your cell phone.

The quality of camera phone pictures is marginal at best, and the result will be very low  quality.

Good Quality Photos:

gooddog1 gooddog2

gooddog3 gooddog4

All four pictures have the pet in focus, shows the head and shoulders of the

pet, and there is nice contrast between the pet and the backgroud. In addition,

these pictures have been taken on the pet's level.

Poor Quality Photos:

Too far away

Too far away and face in shadow.
